Dear teachers, History or also known as Sejarah in Malay is a compulsory subject and need to be passed in our SPM examination. It requires a lot of time and dedication for the teachers as well as the students to learn and remember the facts.
In the classroom it is easier to teach because we are always facing the students and there are face to face interactions going on. We can teach and explain and they can easily get our assistance. We can even do a lot of group work activities with our students. We can assign them topics and ask them to do their own self learning before we explain. We can elicit answers from them as well as do presentations either manually or using powerpoint slides.
Students have to remember facts all the way from Form 1 until Form 3 in order to answer thier PT3 examination. Then came the part where there was only project work but still students still have to answer any kind of examinations mostly school based. In such situations, we teachers always opt to use I-Think Maps and General Mind Maps to guide us. And it is really effective.
In current situation, things have changed. We teachers now depend highly on our e learning methods to continue educating our students. Hence, technology facilities has become our nearest helping hands.
In my opinion, the best teaching aid for History or also known as Sejarah is a always visual or videos. If each topic is presented in a story manner and students can hear as well as watch the learning will effectively take place.
Besides that, students through videos especially with tutorials it is easier for them to learn on their own. It encourages self learning.
Hence, I would love to share some resources with teachers . Teachers can either use it to teach students or even share it with students for their own self learning.
I have done a compilation of chapter by chapter videos for Form 1 and Form 2 according to the KSSM syllabus.
