SOCIAL STORIES

The Direct Instruction Model has a lot of benefits in generating meaningful and effective learning in the classroom. When used appropriately, direct instruction allows ‘ mastery of academic content and skills’ as in teachers can communicate content through differentiated levels of steps from simple to complex accompanied with controlled practices that will eventually assist learners to obtain mastery of content and skills. Next, it can enhance students motivation  since students are always provided with feedback that might help them reflect on their learning process

The personal family models include models that develop individual student abilities. These models stress the development of a positive self-concept. They help students develop better emotional health. In simple words, this model emphasizes on learners as in it permits them to obtain empathy towards others and self-confidence.  The two models focused here are ‘Non-Directive Teaching Model’ and ‘Developing Positive Self-Concepts’

This post is reflecting on these two teaching and learning modal because it is about teachers guiding ASD students directly and ASD students are learning the values and practicing it with their own surroundings.

The topic I going to discuss about is on Social Stories. These stories are related to whatever that happens around us and how we should react or not react too it. It is more connected to ASD students.
It is somehow associated with Social studies.

As wikepedia claims that "Social Stories were devised as a tool to help individuals with ASD better understand the nuances of interpersonal communication so that they could “interact in an effective and appropriate manner”.
