EXERCISES RATIONAL CLOZE

I always follow this model whenever I teach grammar. Direct instruction is a teaching method in which teachers direct the instruction from one lesson to the next within a fixed time period’. It means that it is a teacher-centered classroom teaching and students are perceived as clean shade and passive learners waiting to be filled up with knowledge from a lesson to another within a time frame. This model greatly emphasize on the completion of academic goals as in focuses on the ‘maximization of student learning time and the development of independence in seeking educational goals’.

Key terms and concepts pertaining to model

The key concepts in direct instruction model are that it is teacher-centered, very academic focused, limited opportunity to acknowledge students choice of learning, prefer larger groups of students rather than small groups for teaching and teaching styles or methods are focused on drilling and factual question and answering. As suggested direct instruction has the following characteristics; an academic focus, a teacher-centered focus, little student choice of activity, use of large groups instead of small groups for instruction and use of factual questions and controlled practice in instruction’.
