Nevertheless, intelligence is also an abstract and extensive concept because as stated by Flynn (2007: 4) ‘intelligence is like understanding the atom :we have to know not only what holds it components together but also what splits them apart’. In other words, the word intelligence associates with a range of notions and its complexity make it intricate to precisely identify what it includes and excludes. Further emphasizing, traditionally intelligence is mostly tend to be viewed as general intelligence ‘g’ or intelligence quotient ‘IQ’ but during modern days this term is seen as ‘BIDS’ involving three different levels that are ‘..one that treats the brain, individual differences and social trends’ which integrates together and pictures an whole event (ibid 2007:49). Briefly, in short intelligence is an element that brings into account of human’s multiple intelligences in dealing with their daily life (Flynn 2007).


I have brought in the Intelligence teaching theory here because it connects with examination.

Malaysian government has made English as a compulsory subject into our school curriculum. Nowadays all Malaysian students who finish their public secondary school education in Malaysia must have had at least twelve years of instruction in English as a school subject (Selvaraj,2010).

In Malaysia, English is taught as a second language (L2) in all secondary schools. English language has four skills that should be mastered by the Malaysian secondary students. The skills are speaking, listening, reading and writing .(Cheah,2009). One of the most important skill in Malaysian secondary schools is writing. This is because writing test is always carried out to measure students language proficiency and writing is a compulsory component in all Malaysian secondary school public exams PT3 and SPM (Leong,2017). I briefly explained some background about our public examinations and related it with English.
