Covid 19 Awareness Posters



The most important teaching resource for this model is pictures and plenty of pictures since this approach favours the believe that ‘the whole picture to be the starting point in learning any new concept or principle’. To illustrate further, teachers can use pictures to develop vocabulary sights or also create picture dictionary.

PWIM model has a lot advantages in generating a meaningful and an effective learning in the classroom. The first benefit of this model is that it stresses on language specifically Standard English as in the usage of the language, sound system as in phonics, grammar and other mechanics . The strategy emphasises phonics,grammar, mechanics and usage of Standard English’. The second benefit is that PWIM helps in developing and expending students vocabulary knowledge since pictures cater concrete images in terms of learning new words and picture word charts can serve as an immediate references like picture dictionary whereby students can easily add words to their own vocabulary bank.  PWIM approach is to help their students to expand their vocabularies. The third benefit is that pictures provide content related to the content material of study where students get the feeling of being in a community and actively participate in class activities. The students are using pictures related to content material under study, they feel a part of the classroom community and can participate in class activities’.

The last benefits are as pictures illustrates written, students can see English language patterns and relationships, hear and see new words spelt correctly leading to correct spelling and writing and by identifying words of items or objects or actions from pictures students can gradually develop sentence constructions and form paragraphs using words. The role of pictures in promoting second language acquisition and found that pictures illustrating the written narrative facilitated the decoding process for children learning English’

I briefly discussed about the PWM  model because it is related with the posters that I would love to discuss and share with teachers.

Now it is the season of Covid 19. Hence, in social studies we are planing to create a lesson on Covid 19 awareness among young learners. We need to let young learners know that they need to keep themselves safe from this Covid 19 virus. They need to always remember what they need to do and do not need to do. They need to always wash their hands, maintain social distancing and always stay safe at home. We had conducted a poster drawing competition and below are some posters. That we used to share with our students as inspirations.



 



Children or young learners always or best learn a serious topic like Covid 19 through images. They are mostly visual learners. Lets create more posters to spread covid 19 awareness.
